Hi Noosers! Anne & Avery, here. Our view on health is simple: small daily actions add up. The basics are the priority: real food, movement you enjoy, and habits that support you. Anne (Registered Dietitian) and Avery (Health Coach) write Monday Noosletters based on research and our experiences — because at the end of the day, we all want to know what everyone else is doing, perhaps due to our innate curiosity around human behavior. We are mothers, friends, and athletes who want to share our knowledge and empower our readers to take their health into their own hands. Every first Monday of the month is free, but if you’d like to upgrade to a paid subscription to receive weekly Noosletters, we’d be thrilled!

Happy Monday, Noosers! We have some exciting Noos to share with you. We hosted our first Noos event last Monday at a local restaurant, Coray Kitchen — it was a blast! The food was delicious, the ambiance was warm and springy (despite the gray upstate NY weather), and the conversation was refreshing, wholesome, and engaging. Anne and I love sharing our passion for health and it was an honor to connect with our local Noos community. Then on Tuesday, we had the opportunity to present as the keynote speakers at the Herzog Law Client Appreciation event about the impact of nutrition and exercise on brain health. Our mission has always been to reach as many people as possible and inspire curiosity around health. Awareness is the first step towards preventative care, and we hope to inspire our readers and Noosers IRL (in real life) with our message.

a few pics from Monday and Tuesday!

While we were super excited for both of these opportunities, we were also so nervous!! It felt like a lot was at stake — getting Noos out there (our baby), preparing for both events, and a lot of public speaking. It was stressful in a good way. Sometimes an impending event, deadline or project gives you just the right balance of stress to get in the zone — have you ever experienced that?

Today, we are going to explore “eustress” (pronounced yoo-stress), which is the right balance of stress that helps us focus and be productive. It turns out, between nutrition, movement and behavior, eustress is a common thread — growth doesn’t often come from being comfortable. We are bringing it back to our original Noosletter layout today, with nutrition, movement and behavior (behavior will kick it off!). We hope today’s post will get your week off to a great start! Enjoy!

Not all stress is bad…

We hear all the time… “manage your stress” or “don’t get too stressed out.” Yes, stress management is important for our overall health — it is not a good feeling to be constantly stressed out, whether by work, family, or the day to day grind. We also hear about how to manage our stress — yoga, meditation, or walks in nature are often suggested. But, you don’t often hear about stress being good. This is where eustress comes in.
